RCU Headquarters

DESCRITION

The project involves the design of a new headquarters building for the Royal Commission for AlUla (RCU). The RCU was established to transform the AlUla region—a area rich in cultural, heritage, and natural assets—into a global tourism destination aiming to welcome 2 million visitors annually by 2035, supporting Saudi Arabia’s economic diversification. The new headquarters is intended to serve as a corporate facility that embodies these objectives through contemporary, innovative, and respectful architecture, while integrating forward-looking engineering and communications systems.

The architectural vision for the RCU Headquarters focuses on creating a safe, secure, and high-quality environment that functions as a focal point for the surrounding community. Key facilities will include flexible office accommodations, meeting rooms, exhibition spaces, indoor and outdoor social areas, health and wellness amenities, and dedicated prayer rooms for staff and visitors. The project has progressed through RIBA design stages, with RIBA Stage 4 (Technical Design) to refine spatial coordination, façade development, interior design, and engineering integration. The design aims to balance sustainability, efficiency, and aesthetic appeal, drawing inspiration from both historical forms and modern innovations to support the RCU’s long-term mission.
